About us

We intend to use this page as a gallery to display all our achievement badges just like in the Boy Scouts, Brownies or Girl Guides where badges are
awarded for achevement in different tasks. Feel free to take time out to browse and learn a little bit about our schools particiapation in these initiatives.

In April 2016 we finally achieved a long stated ambition of receiving a Junior Spider nomination. These are the Oscars for childrens websites and we were honoured and very proud to receive one for our daughter website . Please take time to check out this website and all our projects on leadership. The projects include essays on the childrens thoughts on leadership and research projects on leaders chosen by the children. Images of the prizegiving are also available here

In December 2013 our school became one of the first Digital Schools of Distinction in the country and the first in Kilkenny.The Digital Schools Award is an initiative which recognises excellence in a school’s approach to the integration of ICT in learning and teaching. This award aims to build on the excellent progress already made by schools in ICT integration and to encourage them to strive for further progression and improvement.

Our school was recently awarded a starsite award from scoilnet. This prestigious award recognises excellence in website design as well as taking notice of the efforts to integrate ICT into our daily teaching. To read a review of our website

On May 30th 2012 the children of Scoil Mhichil Naofa Galmoy had the great honour of hoisting their schools first Green Flag. Click on the icon above to find out more about Green Schools.

Mathathon overall school winners and class runners up.This was a National Maths competition organised by 4-12 which helped our children master 1000's of Math skills.

Our children performed with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland in the Peace Proms in "The Hub" Cillín Hill Co. Kilkenny. This was an amazing eperience for the children who learned so much about performance and the varying elements of music.

Our School was awarded an Active Flag in May 2013. The process aims to empower schools at both primary and post primary levels to commit to a process of internal self-evaluation as part of a whole school process aimed at improving provision of physical activity in their school.

In June 2013 we were awarded a Primary Science award of Excellence in Maths and Science. Check out our online log of some of our experiments here

Since our website first went live in June 2012 it has been constantly evolving into an invaluable information hub for our school and community. We have registered for a Junior Spider award and would love to receive some recognition for all the work come March 2014.


Our school is a Microsoft Partner in Learning school and is also an accredited Microsoft Innovative school. This is a worldwide
recognition that seeks to recognise schools who help students & educators reach their full potential through innovatio. We are the first school in Ireland to reach Microsoft Innovative
school status.
